Wendy’s debuts a nationwide advertising campaign featuring Clara Peller, who, disgruntled by the shortage of meat on competitors’ burgers, shouts “Where’s the beef?”. The campaign is hugely popular and helps elevate Wendy’s status as a franchisor.

 

By this time in the history of the hamburger, 1 out of every 6 visits to a restaurant in the USA is to a McDonald’s.
